Today was the dinner celebration for my birthday with my hubby's family. For the last several years, I've shared my celebration with Father's Day and have been overruled on my dessert preference in favor of some sort of lemon concoction. Not a big fan of lemon - unless it's lemonade.
This year I got lucky since Father's Day is next weekend. My sweet mother-in-law served my favorite birthday pie - apple. And I got to take home the leftovers.
Happy birthday to me! ;)

Tonight was an event that I've been looking forward to for five years. The radio station that I listen to features comedians in the morning and afternoon for about five minute sketches. I love standup comedy for some reason. I love to laugh.
For the last five years, the station has brought in four of their favorite comedians for a night of comedy. I have never been able to go due to birthday parties, newborn babies, or just plain scheduling conflicts. This year when they announced it for the day after my birthday, then I just knew I was going to be clearing the calendar that night and celebrating my birthday in style.
It was a great night! Of the four comedians, I really enjoyed three of them and fourth was okay. That's actually not too bad. One of the guys is coming back in October and I'm hoping we can find the time on the calendar and scrounge up the funds to go.
There were no pictures allowed inside the venue, so I'm glad I stopped to snap this picture before we went in to find our seats.

Today is my birthday, and I'm the odd duck in the family who loves yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The rest of my family likes chocolate cake with white frosting. Actually, I used to always request pie for my birthday because up until a few years ago I didn't like any cake at all.
My mom is a fantastic cake decorator, but is always stumped when it comes to my boring chocolate frosting. I thought the mini-M&Ms turned out really cute!

There were all sorts of gorgeous flowers around the resort. I was killing some time while waiting for the kids to get all of their stuff loaded on the bus, so I took some pictures. Believe it or not, this was actually taken with the little point-and-shoot. The ones I took with the DSLR were overexposed and didn't have the detail that this photo has. I thought this turned out just stunning!

Tonight we took the kids bowling. The school rented the whole 10-lane alley for two hours. Part of the party package was to put the black lights on and play some groovy music.
I had a couple of artistic shots of my shoes and my purse that I liked. But then, I bowled a 145 and had to use that picture today because that's probably the best I've ever bowled. I had to quit while I was ahead and take Matt back to the resort for bed, or I might have really put the other chaperones to shame. ;)
For the first time, I was able to accompany my husband on one of his school trips as a chaperone, and I picked a good one. We left for Lake Chelan this morning and spent the afternoon at the water park. This evening we took Matt on a walk around town (Paul is staying with my parents), and this was the view of the lake from the park.
The sunset tonight was gorgeous. The sun was almost red. All I had with me was the point-and-shoot, but I think it got closer to capturing what I saw than I thought it would.
