My jewelry partner-in-crime and I met up at the Northwest Bead Society Bead Bazaar today and spent a good four hours exploring the booths and chatting with our favorite beading ladies. Last year I didn't buy anything, but I made up for it this year with purchases at three different shops.
I'm very excited about all of my purchases, but what I love the most are the glass pieces in the upper left corner. These are from a company called Loot!, and made by a local gal who has been doing glass work for over 11 years. She's found a way to take art glass that cannot be recycled and turn it into these gorgeous pieces. I'm currently planning to make a charm type bracelet, and I can't wait to play around with it.
I've had these beads for two years now. I bought them at the Puget Sound Bead Festival in 2007. I bought the ceramic beads and then went home and picked out the Swarovski crystals in Jonquil from Artbeads. When I received the crystals, I put it together like I had envisioned.
And it was too long.
I put it away for a long time and recently re-discovered it. Tonight, I played around a bit with crystal sizes and found a smaller clasp. I'm pleased with the results, and happy to have one more project completed.
In a relatively spur of the moment move, we joined our friends for an evening out to see some Christian comedians. To be perfectly honest, I really didn't expect a whole lot, but it was a fantastic evening!
The group was the Apostles of Comedy and their mission is to prove that you can enjoy comedy without vulgarity, foul language, and sexual innuendo, and they did a fantastic job of it! My only regret was that they were not in town for more than one night. As I was sitting in the audience, I could think of so many people who would have enjoyed this as well.
