Day 362

Paul and I made a run to the grocery store for one last thing for dinner tonight. When we got home, he exclaimed that he forgot to give me his Christmas present from his Pre-K class. Apparently, it was left in daddy's car and no one remembered to put it under the tree. Of course, it was a cute picture of my little cowboy. ;)

Day 350

Tonight I'm getting started on downloading pictures from Paul's birthday weekend. I'm not sure how many pictures I have, but over the course of the weekend we had several events. Between two cameras, it will be a picture or two.

Day 342

I have been hard at work on getting the Christmas cards addressed and out in the mail at a decent time this year. I'm just about done, and if they get out this week, then it will probably be the earliest ever.

This is my "workspace" while I sit on the couch, watch television, and address envelopes.

Day 283

The weather in October can be surprisingly nice, but you have to be careful about getting used to it. It's been a really clear, sunny week, but next week is bringing cloudy skies and rain.

I wanted to take the boys to the pumpkin patch earlier this week, but found out Paul will be having his first Pre-K field trip at our favorite place next week, so I didn't want to go two weeks in a row. We decided to go out this afternoon just so we could get some pictures while the weather was nice.

Unfortunately, no one mentioned to the boys that they should cooperate, so I wasn't thrilled with the results. There were some good ones, but not "the" one.

This is one my husband took of me and the boys. You can see that they're into having fun, not so much into smiling at the camera.

Day 269

Today was the wedding that I mentioned yesterday. I think it went well. The biggest issues I had were with lighting and running out of batteries, but the pictures I've seen so far look like they'll be okay. It was a learning experience for sure. It encourages me to take the time to learn even more about photography.

I'm super nervous about going through all the pictures, so I only looked at some of them on the small screen. It's a busy week, so it might not be until next weekend that I'm able to really start working on the editing.

Day 268

I am shooting a wedding tomorrow, and it would be an understatement to say I'm nervous. This will be my first wedding as "the" photographer. I was basically the last minute second at my brother-in-law's wedding, and I didn't have time to stress about those pictures. It's been a year or ten since then.

Tonight was the rehearsal dinner. I spent a lot of time (and photos) working on figuring out the lighting. This is one of the bride that I really liked.


And I played some with the flowers they had bought for the bouquets tomorrow. I really love Dahlias.

Day 263

Today we were able to give the gift I finished up a couple of days ago. I'll have to say that the birthday girl was pretty surprised and happy with her gift.

Day 260

I spent some time today working on a special project for my mother-in-law's upcoming milestone birthday. All of the pieces came together this morning, but the funniest part was that I had never figured out the right program to make it into one cohesive gift. So I spent some time installing a program I'd bought but never used, figuring it out, and then uploading the finished product.

I was thrilled to pick it up this afternoon. Now to get it framed and wrapped.

Day 252

Grandma and I took my youngest to the park for a bit after I got off work. It was such a nice day, it would have been a waste to not spend at least some time outside. We were pushing Matt in one of the swings. A few times, I'd catch the swing and hold him in place for a few seconds, which he thought was hysterical. It also gave me the opportunity to catch his little eye peeking out at me through the openings in the back.

I thought it made for a kind of artistic, creative photo.

Day 247

This afternoon Paul received a piece of mail from his new PreK teacher. It was a picture of his first day at school. I have yet to see this gal without the camera around. I think she's going to be my kind of teacher. ;)

Day 112

I've had a couple of old pictures of Paul on my desk at work for a while. I'd been meaning to switch them out for a picture of each of the boys. I realized this morning that I still had the pictures from my class last weekend in my bag. In just a few minutes I had an updated picture frame on my desk. I loved looking at them all day.

Day 108

I was going to try to refrain from using this picture in my 365 today because I wanted to wait until I had completed it in a way I'm more excited about, but the reality of my life is that might not happen for several months. And, this is also by far the best thing I did today.

For the first time in I think probably about nine months, unless I'm forgetting something, I was able to take a jewelry class. My jewelry making partner in crime and I took a soldering class. I've been very interested in learning this technique for quite a while. It was really fun to learn, and while my finished product is not perfect, it is very organic. I'm looking forward to getting a chance to try this out again and incorporate it into some of my future jewelry pieces.

This particular pendant features my two boys - one on each side. The soldering process marred the photos I used a little, but I think it adds to the organic feel of the piece.
